Evans
Wins ARCA West Late Model Race at Yakima
Yakima,
WA
(September 1, 2007) – Garrett Evans won the ARCA West Q-Racing Late
Model Challenge Series race at Yakima Speedway. Evans took the lead
from point leader Gary Lewis early and cruised to his fourth win
this season. Lewis finished second building his lead for the 2007 AW
LMCS championship. Brent Harris made another podium visit with a
strong third finish.
Evans and Lewis are tied with four
wins each and the record is five. With one race remaining in the
2007 season it will be down to the last race to see if a new AW LMCS
season high five wins will be set.
As Evans exited his car in winner’s
circle he said, “I had a very good car.” Lewis said, “My car was
good at the beginning and I thought that was too good to be true but
was a handful at the end. Garrett (Evans) was just toying with us he
was that good.”
Evans set fast time and started sixth
with the invert. It only took him X-laps to overtake Lewis for the
lead.
Lewis has built enough of a point lead
over Jeff Jefferson that by just starting the 200 at Wenatchee
Valley’s Super Oval on September 15, will garner him a first AW LMCS
championship to go along with his two NASCAR championships.
Next up for the ARCA West Q-Racing
Late Model Challenge Series will be on Saturday, September 15. The
season finale will be on Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval’s .250-mile
high-banked-oval. It will be the first time that AW LMCS will race
for 200-laps. The race called the Wenatchee 200 will have a race
break for fuel only no new tires. Management will be the key.
