Evans Wins ARCA West LMCS Race
at Yakima Speedway
Yakima, WA (May 19,
2007): It was a rags to riches story for Garrett Evans (E.
Wenatchee, WA). On Saturday night at Yakima Speedway, Yakima, Wash.
It was the riches for Evans with a win of the Wix Filters 125
presented by Yakima Grinding. After a last place finish at the
previous stop for the ARCA West Q-Racing Late Model Challenge Series
it was a very strong comeback for the Northwest Legend stock car
racer.
Jeff Jefferson (Naches, WA) took the lead on lap 25 of the 125-lap
feature. Leading until with just 3 laps to go when a broken master
brake-cylinder sent him off the track and giving the lead to Evans.
Erick Hargraves (Yakima, WA) finished second just ahead of Wes
Rhodes (Yelm, WA).
LMCS point leader Gary Lewis (Bothell, WA) fell back as far as 18th
when a driver error cut the engine off accidentally. A valiant
recovery to finish 4th aided in his quest for a first ever LMCS
Championship. Rick Thompson (Prosser, WA0 was fifth followed by Joe
Constance (Mukilteo, WA). Jefferson recovered for a 6th place
finish.
In the 25-lap feature for the ARCA West Truck Series, Steve Thompson
(W. Richland, WA) had a spirited battle with his brother Rick to get
his first win of the young race season. Jerry Chester (Prosser, WA)
was third and young Daniel Moore (Snohomish, WA) finished fourth.
Next Up for the ARCA West Q-Racing Late Model Challenge Series will
be at Douglas County Speedway in Roseburg, Oregon on Saturday June
2, 2007. The night will feature a 125-lap on the banked 3/8-mile
oval.
