Information for Drivers and Teams
Series Highlights
The ARCA West Late Model Challenge Series is the Northwest’s premier
Late Model touring series created to be a step beyond a local track’s
Super Stock program. Our goal is to provide race teams with an
opportunity to show their skills at racetracks throughout the Northwest
region and advance to higher levels of auto racing. These events are
also open to each track’s local Late Model race teams who wish to
compete against our drivers. The payout scale, contingency & cash bonus
awards, tow money sponsorship(s), and spec tires help to offset the
costs associated with a touring series. We have acquired quality
officials and established rules & regulations for professionalism,
affordability, and parity of competition; all designed to provide an
exciting, competitive racing program for drivers, race teams, sponsors,
track owners and spectators alike.
From simple beginnings in 2000 as a single-track program, the ARCA West
Late Model Challenge Series (AW LMCS) has continued to expand and gain
momentum each year, having nearly 100 teams participate each of the past
three seasons and has consistently drawn full fields at each event.
Over 250 of the region’s best Late Model drivers have competed in a Late
Model Challenge Series event since its inception; with drivers
representing Eastern & Western Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and
Alberta & BC Canada. The series has crowned six different champions in
seven seasons.
For 2007, the series has secured a 10-race season, with events scheduled
at venues ranging from ¼-mile ‘bullrings’ to ½-mile high banked asphalt
ovals. Many of the Northwest’s top drivers are again expected to
participate as the series travels to these premier asphalt racetracks
located in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and BC Canada. This
season’s race schedule is racer & family friendly with a bi-weekly
events and a midseason break for vacations, etc. We have also attempted
to non-conflict with the major regional special events for those that
wish to participate in other high caliber races.
In
December 2006, the Late Model Challenge Series joined with ARCA West
becoming part of the growing ARCA racing family. ARCA has solidly
established its motorsports position in the industry, and the timing of
this affiliation will help enhance the sport of Late Model racing
throughout the Northwest. Our drivers and teams will immediately
benefit from ARCA’s affordable membership package and the associated
benefits of belonging to a national sanctioning body.

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS & ENTRY FEES - A registration/entry fee of
$50.00 from each participating driver will be collected on each
scheduled event. This fee helps offset the officiating costs and tech
equipment purchases. An ARCA / ARCA West license will be required from
all drivers expecting to participate in more than two (2) scheduled AW
LMCS events during the season. A single event license will be $25.00
which includes use of a transponder, if needed. A single event license
may only be purchased on two events in any one season, above that a
driver must purchase full membership.
ARCA / ARCA WEST
License Fees:
Driver -
$125.00 (single event license available - $25.00)
Owner - $125.00 (optional in 2007)
Crew - $100.00 (optional in 2007)
PIT PASSES
– Back gate fees vary
between tracks. $35 driver / $35 crew is standard. Back gate fee is
set by track, for track.
CAR NUMBERS
- Please complete an ARCA West membership form to reserve your car
number. Numbers will be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis; with
priority to those cars that competed in the prior season. Returning
numbers can only be held until the first race date; then will be issued
in order of when memberships were received.
TRANSPONDERS
will be used in conjunction with tower officials for scoring. The series
will provide transponders to teams without personal units for a nominal
rental fee at each event. Series will collect a damage/loss deposit on
all rented units. It is the responsibility of the driver to return the
transponder unit to the series’ official trailer before leaving the
racetrack. There is a $50 PENALTY (minimum) for failure to turn in your
operable transponder on the night of event. Loss deposit will be
collected after 3rd day post race event.
TIRES
– AW LMCS series-specific (stamped) tires unless otherwise stipulated.
Designated right & left mounting. Tires must be purchased from AW LMCS
/ Losch Motorsports, LLC or AW LMCS approved dealer. Practice and setup
tires will be available in advance of race date, but race tires
(qualifying / feature) will only be available on race day and released
to teams at a designated time. A team has the option of calling in their
requested tire sizes in advance, or selecting tires on race day. The
race tires will be ‘impounded’ until a posted time prior to second
practice session. Teams may inspect tires while they are impounded and
exchange if necessary.
Cost of tire: $135.00 total - includes mounting, sizing, any applicable
tax, and disposal of old tires. (Practice / Setup tires will be
available for $125.00 total; unmounted)

TIRE RULE
- Cars must start the feature on the same tires they qualified. A tire
may only be changed during the feature if it is flat or going flat,
subject to official’s inspection. Cars that run in the last chance race
may change tires prior to that race, but must return to the qualifying
tires for the feature. No altering of tire or tire softening chemicals
allowed. The series reserves the right to implement a limit on the
number of tires each team can purchase per event.
PRACTICE RULE
– Teams may not hold a private practice at a track within one
week of a scheduled AW LMCS event. However, a team may use a track’s
standard open practice day as listed on the tracks schedule. The series
reserves the right to schedule an AW LMCS specific practice, but only
with adequate notification of such practice to all teams involved.
